Instantly vs lemlist: Which Cold Email Tool Should You Pick?

Pick Instantly if you mostly send cold email and want unlimited inboxes at a flat workspace price, especially above 50,000 emails a month. Pick lemlist if you want LinkedIn, calls, SMS and WhatsApp in the same sequence as your emails, or personalized images. At about 50,000 emails a month with one team, lemlist's Email plan is actually the cheaper of the two.

What each tool is

Instantly

Instantly is an email-first outreach platform built around unlimited sending accounts and warmup. Over time it has added a B2B lead database (SuperSearch), a CRM, website visitor identification, inbox placement testing, done-for-you mailboxes and AI agents. Each of these is billed as a separate subscription.

The company says it serves "50,000+ sales teams." Its pricing is per workspace rather than per seat, which is why it is popular with founders and agencies running many inboxes.

lemlist

lemlist is a multichannel sales engagement platform. Its homepage says you can "reach leads via email, LinkedIn, calls, WhatsApp, and SMS," and it pairs that with a lead database, an email and phone finder, lemwarm for warmup and a Deliverability Hub.

lemlist says "20,000+ other sales teams run their entire outbound in lemlist." It is known for personalization features like custom images, and for running LinkedIn and email in the same campaign.

Pricing compared (as of October 2026)

Instantly Outreach plans

Plan Monthly Annual (per month) Emails/month Uploaded contacts
Growth $47 $37.60 5,000 1,000
Hypergrowth $97 $77.60 125,000 25,000
Light Speed $358 $286.30 500,000 100,000
Enterprise Custom Custom 500,000+ 100,000+

All Outreach plans include unlimited email accounts and warmup. The uploaded contacts limit is a total, not a monthly allowance, per Instantly's help center. Lead data (Credits) and the CRM are separate subscriptions, with Credits plans from $9 a month and a $47 or $97 CRM.

One more catch: on Growth you can preview replies in the Unibox but not reply from it, and you cannot invite teammates, use webhooks or build subsequences. Those need Hypergrowth.

lemlist plans

Plan Monthly Yearly (per month) Volume Senders
Email $69 $55 50,000 emails/month Unlimited users and senders listed
Multichannel $109 per user $87 per user Unlimited emails and messages 5 per user
Enterprise Custom Custom Unlimited 5 or more per user

The Email plan includes the email and phone finder, the lead database, AI agents, warmup, the Deliverability Hub, CRM integrations and API access. Multichannel adds LinkedIn automation, SMS, a built-in dialer and the WhatsApp add-on. Extra data enrichment is $20 a month ($16 yearly) for 2,000 credits.

Two things on lemlist's page are unclear. The Email plan card lists unlimited users while the FAQ says "pricing is based on the number of users," and lemlist's help center says Email plan cost scales with monthly sending volume. Ask for a quote if you plan to send more than 50,000 emails a month.

What it costs at real volumes

These are sample setups using list prices, monthly billing and no add-ons.

Scenario Instantly lemlist Cheaper
Founder, 5,000 emails/month $47 (Growth) $69 (Email) Instantly
Small team, 50,000 emails/month $97 (Hypergrowth) $69 (Email) lemlist
125,000 emails/month across 25 inboxes $97 (Hypergrowth) Email price above 50,000 not published; 5 Multichannel users is $545 Instantly
3 reps running LinkedIn plus email Not possible natively $327 (3 Multichannel users) lemlist (only option)

The pattern is simple. lemlist is cheapest when one team sends around 50,000 emails a month. Instantly wins at the low end, and pulls far ahead once volume or inbox count climbs.

Features compared

Sending and mailboxes

Instantly's core promise is unlimited email accounts with sending spread across them (inbox rotation). That makes it easy to scale by adding more domains and inboxes without touching your bill.

lemlist's Email plan also lists unlimited senders, but caps volume at 50,000 emails a month on the published price. On Multichannel, each user gets five senders, so a team running dozens of inboxes needs more seats.

Multichannel

This is lemlist's clearest advantage. A single lemlist sequence can include emails, LinkedIn actions, calls and SMS, with WhatsApp as an add-on. For account-based outreach where you want to view a profile, connect on LinkedIn and follow up by email, that is a real workflow benefit.

Instantly's sequences are email-only. Its CRM covers calls, SMS and tasks, but it does not run native LinkedIn steps inside campaigns. If LinkedIn matters to you, you would need a separate LinkedIn tool next to Instantly.

Personalization

lemlist's image editor lets you add text elements with variables like {{firstName}} or {{companyName}} to a custom image, then save it as a template. Its help center walks through it from the email step's custom media menu. It is useful for screenshots of a prospect's site or branded visuals.

Instantly focuses on text personalization: variables, spintax, AI-written lines and A/Z testing, which its help center says is on every Outreach plan. Both support AI-assisted copy.

Warmup and deliverability

Both include warmup. Instantly includes unlimited warmup on every Outreach plan and sells inbox placement testing as a separate subscription. Light Speed adds a dedicated server and IP blocks (SISR).

lemlist includes lemwarm Essential with its paid plans, and its FAQ says "lemwarm and built-in deliverability protections are included in all plans." lemlist's help center recommends connecting mailboxes over OAuth and warming for 3 to 5 weeks before scaling.

Neither vendor publishes independent placement data, so treat any claim that one "lands in the inbox more" with caution. Deliverability depends on your setup more than on the tool. Our cold email infrastructure guide covers domains, authentication and volume per inbox.

Lead data

Both have a built-in database. Instantly's SuperSearch lists 450M+ contacts on its pricing page (its help center says 610M+) and runs on credits billed separately from sending. Credits pay for emails found, enrichment, verification and AI actions.

lemlist lists a 650M+ lead database (600M+ in another section of its site), an email and phone finder, and an enrichment add-on drawing on 25+ data providers. Its pricing page says credits are charged only for successful results and roll over while your subscription is active. Instantly's credits expire two months after purchase on monthly plans.

CRM and integrations

lemlist names native integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot and Attio, plus API, MCP and "500+ integrations." Instantly has its own CRM as a separate subscription, plus API access from Growth and webhooks from Hypergrowth.

If your team lives in Salesforce or HubSpot, lemlist's native sync is a plus. If you want a lightweight CRM next to your sending, Instantly's is an option.

Agencies

Instantly includes white label on Hypergrowth and Light Speed, and its unlimited mailboxes suit agencies sending for clients. lemlist's pricing page does not list a white label or agency plan, though its Enterprise tier adds custom roles and permissions.

Pros and cons

Instantly

Pros - Unlimited mailboxes and warmup on every Outreach plan - Low price at 125,000 emails a month - White label from Hypergrowth - Broad AI agent suite

Cons - Email-only sequences, no native LinkedIn - Growth plan cannot reply from the Unibox or add teammates - Lead data, CRM and placement tests are separate bills - Contact limits are a fixed total that does not reset

lemlist

Pros - Email, LinkedIn, calls, SMS and WhatsApp in one sequence - Personalized images built in - lemwarm included with paid plans - Large database, with credits that roll over while subscribed

Cons - Multichannel priced per user, with five senders each - Email plan published at 50,000 emails a month - Some pricing details are unclear on its own page - No published white label plan

Who should pick which

You are... Pick
A founder sending a few thousand emails a month Instantly

An agency sending at volume for clients Instantly
Sending 100,000+ emails across many inboxes Instantly

Other options worth a look

If neither fits, a few tools are worth comparing. Smartlead suits agencies that want client workspaces in one account, and our Smartlead vs lemlist comparison covers it. PlusVibe is often the cheapest option between 25,000 and 150,000 emails a month.

For lists, many teams pair a sender with Apollo.

Can you use Instantly and lemlist together?

Some teams do, and the split is usually by channel. lemlist runs the smaller, high-touch campaigns where LinkedIn and personalized images earn their keep, while Instantly handles the high-volume email campaigns across many inboxes.

That setup only makes sense if both jobs are big enough to justify two bills. You also need to keep the two tools from emailing the same person twice, so use separate lead lists or a shared do-not-contact list. For most small teams, one tool is simpler.

Switching from one to the other

Moving between Instantly and lemlist is mostly manual work, so plan for it.

  1. Export your leads. Pull your contact lists and campaign results as CSV files before you cancel anything.
  2. Rebuild sequences by hand. Steps, variables and A/B variants do not transfer between platforms, and LinkedIn steps have no equivalent in Instantly.
  3. Reconnect and warm mailboxes. Connect your inboxes to the new tool and let warmup run before sending at full volume. Warmup history does not move with you.
  4. Recheck your deliverability setup. Confirm SPF, DKIM, DMARC and any custom tracking domain on the new platform.
  5. Overlap for a few weeks. Let running campaigns finish on the old tool while new ones start on the new one.

Rather not run it yourself?

Whichever tool you pick, the work is the same: domains, warmup, lists, copy and reply handling. If you would rather hand that off, book a 30-minute call with David at Koldify, the done-for-you cold email agency where he is a partner.

Frequently asked questions

Is Instantly cheaper than lemlist?

At low volume and at high volume, yes. As of October 2026, Instantly Growth is $47 a month against $69 for lemlist's Email plan, and Instantly Hypergrowth covers 125,000 emails for $97. At about 50,000 emails a month, lemlist's Email plan ($69, or $55 yearly) is the cheaper of the two.

Does Instantly have LinkedIn automation like lemlist?

No. Instantly's sequences are email-only, with no native LinkedIn, WhatsApp or SMS steps. lemlist's Multichannel plan includes LinkedIn automation, SMS automation, a built-in dialer and a WhatsApp add-on.

Which has better deliverability, Instantly or lemlist?

Neither publishes independent inbox placement data, so nobody can honestly name a winner. Both include warmup (Instantly's unlimited warmup and lemlist's lemwarm). Your domains, list quality, volume per inbox and copy matter far more than the platform.

Can I use personalized images in Instantly?

Personalized images are a lemlist strength. lemlist's built-in image editor places variables like first name or company name on a custom image inside an email step. Instantly does not advertise an equivalent native feature.

Do Instantly and lemlist have a free trial?

Yes. Instantly offers 14 days with 1,000 emails, 250 uploaded contacts and 100 credits. lemlist's FAQ describes a 14-day trial with Multichannel features (except in-app calls) and 200 credits, while a banner on its pricing page advertises an extended 30-day trial.

Which is better for agencies, Instantly or lemlist?

For agencies sending email at volume, Instantly usually fits better because it is priced per workspace with unlimited mailboxes, and white label is included on Hypergrowth and Light Speed. lemlist fits agencies whose clients want LinkedIn and email in the same campaign.
